edition 2009

Diventatene parte attiva!

Although he started out playing in fusion-oriented settings, Steve Grossman developed into an excellent hard bop tenor in the tradition of Sonny Rollins. He started at the top as Wayne Shorter’s replacement with Miles Davis, playing in his fusion group from 1969 to 1970, and was with Lonnie Liston Smith in 1971. He spent a valuable period as part of Elvin Jones’ group and has mostly led his own bands ever since, recording as a leader for such labels as P.M., Owl, Red, and Dreyfus.

(Italian popular dance music). “I Violini di Santa Vittoria” re-propose this music after a long research effort and bear witness to its tradition in the world.
