With influences from Segovia to Mississippi John Hurt, Ed has created his own “guitar voice”, well-known and worldly-famous. The depth of his compositions may give emotions to the listeners just with a note. Scott Alarik of “The Boston Globe”, explains it very well by writing: “Gerhard does not write instumental songs. He only writes songs which only a guitar can sing”. What distinguishes Ed’s music is his invention in the use of open tunings, which allow him a wide range of shades in a composition.
His guitar virtousity, 6 or 12 chords, or Hawaiian Lap Steel, is always servicing beauty. He is in all the most important record collections for acoustic guitar, in videos or music scores. “The Breedlove Guitars Co.” have recently made a model guitar designed by Ed Gerhard, highly-demanded and a winner of “The Players’ Choice Award” of “Acoust Guitar Magazine”.
