JUAN LORENZO, flamenco guitarist, has earned a gifted place in the flamenco european survey.
In twenty years, he has given about 2000 concerts, collaborating together with some of the most prestigious international flamenco artists, such as the guitarists José Luis Postigo, Victor Monge “Serranito”, Manitas de Plata, Merengue de Corboba, Oscar Herrero, the “cantaores” José de la Tomasa, Carmen Sanchez, Feliz de Lola e Javier Hidalgo, the “Bailaores” José Greco, Antonio Marquez, Joaquin Grilo, “El Junco”, Juan Ortega, Joaquin Ruiz, Miguel Angel Espino e Carmen Reina, and the Pop Artists Andrea Bocelli, Mario Reyes from the Gipsy Kings, Jethro Tull, Tony Esposito, Gianni Morandi, Al di Meola, Pino Daniele.
In 1996, Juan Lorenzo founded his own flamenco company, called “Flamenco Libre” giving several tours in Italy, Spain, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Ex- Jugoslavia and Tunisia playing at the same time as a soloist, in duo with the classical guitarist Flavio Sala and with orchestras in Europe, United States and Russia. One year later, he took part in the video recording “La Feria de Abril”, promoted by one of the most famous flamenco institutions, the “Fundaciòn Cristina Heeren” from Seville giving an european tour.
Born in Italy, of spanish origin, he completed his musical studies in Seville with Miguel Perez and Mario Escudero, also playing in the most important “tablaos” and “fiestas” in the same city.
He has been paying attention to flamenco teaching. He wrote many essays, books and flamenco methods and several recordings, distributed in Europe, United States and Japan. That made Juan Lorenzo one of the most requested flamenco teachers in Italy and abroad.
