It mixes Cumbia and Dub, Mambo and Reggae, stories of greedy bears and snakes in love, children’s songs, Rap, Latin jazz, ASMR and Shamanic wisdom.
Ritmo Animal is the new album from SuRealistas, a big surprise from the Italian-Argentinian band.
The mix of styles and directions took the band themselves by surprise too – it mixes Cumbia and Dub, Mambo and Reggae, stories of greedy bears and snakes in love, children’s songs, Rap, Latin jazz, ASMR and Shamanic wisdom. Product of an intense two days in House of Glass recording studios, the music took shape as a concept album taking inspiration from animal symbolism in civilisation.
Ritmo Animal is an out-of-the-ordinary experiment featuring compositions by every member of the group and featuring long-term collaborator and percussionist Simone Padovani. Every track is an invitation to dance and re-find our inner animal, and a small tribute to the natural world we have neglected for two long.
